About Tent & Tribe
Family camping made simple.
Tent & Tribe is a UK family camping guide created by a family with three young boys, currently aged 5, 3 and 1.
We love camping because of what it gives us as a family: time outdoors, simple adventures, new places to explore and a chance to slow things down for a while.
But we also know that camping with young children is not always simple.
There is a lot to think about — where to go, what to pack, how everyone will sleep, what to cook, what gear is worth buying and how to keep small children comfortable when the weather does not cooperate.
Tent & Tribe was created to share what we have learned and to help other parents make family camping easier, more enjoyable and less stressful.
Why we started Tent & Tribe
As parents of three young boys, we have learned quickly that camping with children is very different from camping as adults.
You carry more.
You plan more.
You think about sleep, food, weather, warmth, routines and entertainment in a completely different way.
But despite the extra effort, we genuinely value what camping gives our family.
The time together, the freedom for the children to explore and the simple experience of being outdoors are the reasons we keep coming back to it.
Along the way, we have picked up practical lessons, found things that work, discovered things we would do differently and learned where a little preparation can make a big difference.
Tent & Tribe is our way of sharing that experience with other like-minded parents.
What we want Tent & Tribe to do
Our aim is simple:
to make family camping feel more achievable.
We want to help parents who are thinking about trying camping for the first time, as well as families who already camp but want to make their trips easier.
That means practical advice rather than making camping look perfect.
Some trips will involve rain.
Children will sometimes wake up in the night.
You will probably pack things you never use and forget something you wish you had brought.
That is part of family camping.
Our role is to help you prepare for those realities and make the most of the experience.

Our approach to advice
We are not here to pretend there is one perfect way to camp.
Every family is different.
Different children sleep differently, different parents have different budgets and different families want different things from a camping trip.
We want our advice to be practical, realistic and useful.
Where we share recommendations, our aim is to explain what may work well for families, what to consider before buying or booking and what the trade-offs might be.
We do not believe that the most expensive option is automatically the best option.
The goal is to give parents enough useful information to make the right choice for their own family.
Learning as we go
Our own children are still young, so our experience of family camping continues to develop as they grow.
We see that as a strength of Tent & Tribe.
The site is being built alongside our own family adventures, and we will continue to share what we learn, what works for us and the practical lessons that may help other parents.
We also know that other families will have experiences and ideas that differ from ours.
Tent & Tribe is intended to be a useful resource for parents who enjoy camping, want to start camping or simply want to make outdoor family trips a little easier.
