Best Family Campsites in Cornwall
Cornwall has no shortage of campsites. Finding one that works well for your particular family is the harder part.
Some families want a swimming pool, playground and plenty happening on site. Others would rather have a quieter pitch, space for the children to play and easy access to the coast. If you’re camping with babies or younger children, practical things like family bathrooms and baby-changing facilities can matter just as much.
We’ve shortlisted 10 family-friendly campsites in Cornwall that stood out during our research for different reasons.
This isn’t a ranking, and we haven’t necessarily stayed at every campsite included. We’ve compared current campsite information with established camping and tourism sources, focusing on the things that matter when camping as a family.
Where we describe a campsite as “best for” something, that’s our editorial assessment based on the facilities and location we’ve researched.

01 — Wooda Farm Holiday Park
Bude, North Cornwall
Wooda Farm is a family-run holiday park at Poughill, near Bude, with dedicated grass pitches for tents alongside touring pitches and other accommodation.
What caught our attention was the combination of children’s activities and practical facilities for parents, particularly those camping with babies or younger children.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Younger children & strong all-round family facilities |
| Tent pitches | Yes. Electric and non-electric grass options are available. |
| Family facilities | Children’s play facilities, baby-changing facilities, private family bathrooms and a campers’ kitchen. |
| Beach access | Wooda isn’t beachfront. Bude and the surrounding North Cornwall beaches are accessible from the campsite. |
| Food on site | On-site facilities include a farm shop and food options, with some services operating seasonally. |
| Dog friendly | Yes. Up to three dogs are currently permitted per touring or camping pitch, with lead and breed restrictions applying. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Wooda stood out because its family offering goes beyond simply providing somewhere for children to play. Family bathrooms, baby-changing provision and a campers’ kitchen make it particularly interesting for families tackling a camping holiday with younger children.
02 — Treloy Touring Park
Near Newquay, North Cornwall
Treloy is a family-friendly touring and camping park in the countryside outside Newquay.
It provides several of the facilities associated with a family holiday park while remaining focused on camping and touring.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Families wanting a pool without choosing a huge holiday resort |
| Tent pitches | Yes. Grass pitches are available with and without electric hook-up. |
| Family facilities | Heated outdoor swimming pool and paddling pool, children’s play area, playing field and games room. |
| Beach access | Newquay and beaches including Watergate Bay, Porth and Crantock are around ten minutes away by car. |

WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Treloy offers an appealing middle ground: a pool, play facilities and food options without moving completely into large-resort territory.
03 — Trevornick Holiday Park
Holywell Bay, near Newquay
Trevornick sits at the activity-heavy end of our Cornwall shortlist.
Families have access to a broad range of facilities, making this one to consider if spending plenty of time around the campsite is part of the holiday.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Activities & on-site entertainment |
| Tent pitches | Yes. Camping and touring pitches are available. |
| Family facilities | Heated outdoor swimming pool, Splash Zone, family bathrooms, children’s activities, entertainment and golf facilities. |
| Beach access | A path leads directly from the park towards Holywell Bay. Trevornick currently estimates the walk at roughly 20 minutes. |

| Dog friendly | Yes, but not every pitch or accommodation type is dog-friendly. A suitable pitch must be selected when booking. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
If having plenty available for children to do without leaving the campsite is a priority, Trevornick has one of the broadest family facility lists in our shortlist.
04 — Tregarton Park
Near Mevagissey, South Cornwall
Tregarton is a family-run touring and camping park set across 12 acres near Mevagissey.
It combines substantial campsite facilities with a useful location for beaches, fishing villages and some of South Cornwall’s best-known attractions.

WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Tregarton gives families a useful balance: enough facilities to enjoy days around the campsite while remaining well positioned for exploring South Cornwall.
05 — Trewan Hall
St Columb Major, North Cornwall
Trewan Hall offers something noticeably different from a purpose-built holiday park.
Camping takes place across two large fields within more than 36 acres of woodland and grounds surrounding a 17th-century manor house.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Traditional family camping with plenty of space |
| Tent pitches | Yes. Tents are pitched across two large camping fields. |
| Family facilities | Heated 25-metre swimming pool, extensive grounds, recreation space and high-season entertainment. |
| Beach access | Trewan isn’t beachfront. Its position between Newquay and Padstow provides driving access to numerous North Cornwall beaches. |
| Food on site | An on-site shop sells items including ice creams and pasties. |
| Dog friendly | Yes. The campsite also has dedicated woodland where dogs can be exercised off lead. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Trewan Hall stood out for its setting. The large grounds, woodland and camping fields offer a more traditional family-camping environment while still providing a substantial swimming pool and other facilities.

06 — East Crinnis Holiday Park
Par, St Austell Bay
East Crinnis is a family-run camping and glamping site near St Austell Bay.
Its combination of practical family facilities and location makes it particularly interesting for families planning to use their campsite as a base for exploring South Cornwall.

| Tent pitches | Yes. Electric and non-electric grass pitches are available. |
| Family facilities | Children’s play park, family shower rooms, baby-changing provision and communal kitchen facilities. |

| Food on site | The Shack provides a shop and seasonal breakfast and evening takeaway service. |
| Dog friendly | Yes. Up to two dogs are currently permitted per pitch, subject to site rules. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT

07 — Tollgate Farm Caravan & Camping Park
Perranporth, North Cornwall
Tollgate Farm is a family-run campsite close to Perranporth and its three-mile beach.
The location is the obvious attraction, but there are also several facilities aimed specifically at families staying on the campsite.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Perranporth beach holidays |
| Tent pitches | Yes. |
| Family facilities | Large playing field, climbing and play equipment, farm animals and heated family shower rooms. |
| Beach access | The campsite is less than a mile from Perranporth’s shops and beach, with a walking route that the campsite says can be used with pushchairs and younger children. |
| Food on site | Licensed shop and campers’ kitchen. |
| Dog friendly | Yes, with dog walks accessible from the campsite and site rules applying. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Tollgate Farm stood out primarily because of its location. Families planning to spend a large part of their Cornwall holiday around Perranporth have the option of reaching the town and beach without automatically getting in the car.
08 — Tehidy Holiday Park
Illogan, near Portreath and Porthtowan
Tehidy is a small, independent family-owned holiday park set in a wooded valley in West Cornwall.
It deliberately offers a quieter style of holiday, without the large clubhouse and entertainment programme found at some bigger parks.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Smaller independent family camping |
| Tent pitches | Yes. Grass, electric and non-electric options are available. |
| Family facilities | Children’s play area, games room, family shower room, laundry and dishwashing facilities. |
| Beach access | Porthtowan can be reached in under ten minutes by car, with other North Cornwall beaches also within easy reach. |
| Food on site | An on-site shop stocks essentials and local produce. There isn’t a large restaurant or entertainment complex. |
| Dog friendly | No. Tehidy does not currently accept pets, with assistance dogs treated as an exception. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Tehidy gives us an important alternative to the activity-heavy parks. It’s a smaller campsite with useful family facilities for families who prefer their Cornwall holiday to revolve around exploring rather than organised entertainment.
09 — Silver Sands Holiday Park
The Lizard Peninsula, South Cornwall
Silver Sands is a family-run holiday park and campsite on the Lizard Peninsula, close to Kennack Sands and the South West Coast Path.
The emphasis here is more on coast, countryside and outdoor space than organised entertainment.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Quieter family camping close to the coast |
| Tent pitches | Yes. Touring and camping pitches are available. |
| Family facilities | Several children’s play areas, including a sandpit for younger children, play equipment and a separate grassy area for ball games. |
| Beach access | Kennack Sands can be reached via a short woodland route from the park. |
| Food on site | On-site dining provision is limited compared with the larger holiday parks, so we’d plan food and supplies before arriving. |
| Dog friendly | Yes. Dogs are welcomed on touring and camping pitches, subject to park rules. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Silver Sands stood out for families who don’t need an entertainment schedule. The playgrounds provide something for children at the campsite, while Kennack Sands and the wider Lizard Peninsula provide the main reasons to explore.
10 — Coastal Valley Camp & Crafts
Porth, near Newquay
Coastal Valley is a smaller camping and glamping site set in a valley near Porth, Watergate Bay and Newquay.
Its approach to family camping is noticeably different from a conventional holiday park, with more emphasis on natural play, crafts and outdoor space.
TENT & TRIBE FIELD GUIDE
| Best for | Outdoor play & a smaller campsite experience |
| Tent pitches | Yes. Level pitches for tents are available, including electric options. |
| Family facilities | Wild play area for younger children, natural stream, dry-docked boat, rope swing, family washroom, covered wet-weather space and craft activities at selected times. |
| Beach access | Porth and Watergate Bay are close by, with the campsite currently describing the nearest beaches as around 1.5 miles away. |
| Food on site | Seasonal farm shop plus The Barn, which serves wood-fired food and drinks on selected days and during peak periods. |
| Dog friendly | Yes. Dogs must have a child-friendly temperament and remain on leads, with breed restrictions applying. |
WHY WE SHORTLISTED IT
Coastal Valley stood out because it offers a different interpretation of family-friendly camping. Instead of relying on pools and organised entertainment, it puts more emphasis on outdoor play, crafts and its natural valley setting.
Which Cornwall Campsite Might Suit Your Family?
If you’re still narrowing down the shortlist, these are the campsites we’d start with for some of the most common family priorities.
For younger children
Wooda Farm
Family bathrooms, baby-changing facilities and practical camping facilities make Wooda particularly interesting when camping with smaller children.
For lots to do on site
Trevornick
The heated pool, Splash Zone, children’s activities and entertainment give Trevornick one of the broadest activity offerings in our shortlist.
For a beach holiday
Tollgate Farm
Being less than a mile from Perranporth gives families the option of reaching the town and beach on foot.
For family camping
Trewan Hall
More than 36 acres of grounds, large camping fields and woodland give Trewan Hall a noticeably different character from a large holiday resort.
For exploring South Cornwall
East Crinnis
Its location near St Austell Bay and the Eden Project makes East Crinnis a practical base for families planning plenty of days out.
For quieter family camping
Silver Sands
The campsite provides children’s play facilities, but the Lizard coastline and Kennack Sands are the bigger attraction.
For outdoor play
Coastal Valley
Wild play, crafts and a natural valley setting offer something different from conventional holiday-park entertainment.
How We Choose Campsites
Our Where to Camp guides are independently researched. We haven’t necessarily stayed at every campsite we include, and we don’t pretend that we have.
Instead, we compare current information from campsite operators with recognised camping organisations, tourism bodies and established camping resources.
We focus on practical details that matter when camping with children: tent pitches, family facilities, play areas, beach access, food options, dog policies and the type of camping experience each site appears to offer.
1
First-hand experience is clearly labelled
If we’ve personally camped somewhere, we’ll tell you when we stayed. Otherwise, the campsite has been selected through our research.
2
Significant claims should be verifiable
If we tell you a campsite has a swimming pool, family bathroom or walking route to a beach, we expect to be able to substantiate it with current information.
3
Our opinions remain our opinions
A heated swimming pool is a fact.
Calling a campsite “best for activities” is our editorial assessment based on the facilities we’ve researched.
Our aim isn’t to tell you that one campsite is objectively better than every other. It’s to make it easier to work out which campsite looks right for your family.
Before You Book
Campsites change, and some facilities only operate during particular parts of the season. Before booking, check the campsite’s current information for:
Swimming pool opening dates
Cafés, shops and takeaway opening times
Children’s activities and entertainment
Dog rules and restrictions
Beach access and walking routes
Pitch dimensions for your tent
Family bathroom availability
Minimum-stay requirements
Before booking, check the campsite’s current information for:
One detail that’s particularly easy to overlook is the distance between your pitch and the toilets.
It doesn’t look important on a campsite map until you’re making the journey with a sleepy child in the middle of the night.
Final Thoughts
The biggest thing our research highlighted is just how different family-friendly camping can look.
Trevornick offers pools, activities and entertainment. Coastal Valley takes a more outdoors-focused approach. Tollgate Farm’s location makes Perranporth the main attraction, while Wooda stood out for some of the practical facilities available to families with younger children.
None of those approaches is automatically better.
The right choice depends on your children’s ages, what they enjoy, how much time you expect to spend around the campsite and what you want to do during your Cornwall holiday.
That’s what our Where to Camp guides are designed to help you decide.
